Silent Soldiers

So, this was definitely one of the shortest marshalling events we’ve had since I’ve joined the marshals. It’s only about 13 kms and has a slightly later start than some of our events. This was escort duty for the Silent Soldiers Motorcycle Club – see Silent Soldiers for more details about them. It was a reverse breakfast run, with breakfast before the ride and not at the destination. We started out at the Kniff un Gaffel guesthouse (Kniff un Gaffel Guesthouse), which is an amazing venue and the staff there are so pleasant. Setting off must be my favourite part of escort duty with the sound of the revving and roaring bike engines. Then it was off to the Voortrekker Monument. It was a fun ride, though going through Pretoria itself was interesting. Luckily for us, it was Sunday so the traffic wasn’t as hectic as a week day! It was a pleasant ride.

Thanks Little Raven for the photos!
